Rana through the years

I've not drawn all that much except from doodles recently, and when I got the idea from this, it was just the right 'get your head back in the game' push that I really needed. This is my own take on the character age meme. I figured doing it with Rana would be best, as of all my characters, she changes the most dramatically as she ages. I did this all in one sitting, which is proof that I'm improving when it comes to consistency in characters' faces.

CHILD: She was pretty sweet when she was a kid, but was made to grow up pretty quickly thanks to losing her only remaining parental figure. She had really long hair for almost all of her life, and as you can probably tell from the changes in face shape as she ages up, she was quite chubby in her younger years

TWEEN: She got big into sports when she was about this age; she got a lot slimmer and physically fitter, and her personality changed a lot too as she got more confident and outspoken. 

TEENAGER: This was about when she moved to the UK, and started to mature quite a bit too. She got a tad shyer around people she was unfamiliar with as she got older, but was still chatty and ditzy per usual. 

18-23: This was the main age of professionalism as she got her job at '6, thus she was forced to stop dressing like she lived in a skip. She met Lorna aged 20, and consequently this was when she spent a lot of time trying to impress her by ditching her boyish attitudes and uncouth mannerisms.  

24-28: Again, very mature and sophisticated, though this was somewhat of a difficult period for her, what with all the issues with Evelyn, so she did stop giving a shit for a while. 

29-33: The downward spiral. This was the period which she spent a year of in hospital, and the rest reestablishing herself, and trying to find a way to live when all she really wanted to do was die. For much of this, she was dissociative and depressed; living in hotels, hiding her face, and eking out an existence unable to eat, sleep, look at her own reflection, or spend time around other people. 

34-39: She started getting back on track about here; she got her facial prosthetic aged 34, and started to create a new identity separate from the self she had killed five years ago by bleaching her hair and changing up her wardrobe. However, she didn't utilize things such as makeup in the way she does now, so just had to dress incredibly prudishly and claim that she got the scar to her head in a bar fight. If I ever describe or draw her as having an uneven-looking face, then she's in her late thirties, as this was when her prosthetic was still several chunks of plastic, with no voice corrector. It held the shape of her face, but didn't offer symmetry, and left her still using ASL to communicate.

40-44: Her prosthetic is far better-looking; she got rhinoplasty to even out the shape of her broken nose, and breast augmentation, and this was also the start of the coloured contacts. She also stopped cutting her hair herself, thus it's less asymmetrical and less choppy and uneven.
